Our home has a roof.

After last weeks lousy weather, a great day for building today...the roof tilers have been busy and the roof is almost complete - some tidy up and point setting to do. Our bricklayer has been starting some setup activities -looking forward to seeing this stage....it's really starting to look like our new home now !!

Wet week in Melbourne town - but still progressing.

It's been a wet and cold week in Melbourne so far, but we still have progress on the build. Especially good since we were told our SS "B" is off sick again for a while. B organised for the roof safety brackets to be installed, the roof tiles were delivered and the house was wrapped up ....not bad progress at all I feel !!

Looks so different when you cannot see through the walls

It's all happening - Well done Ashford homes.

The frame was only just finished and low and behold suddenly there was guttering !!  Brick delivered on site for them to make a start......IT's all happening, I must say Ashford Homes is on the ball with their project management  even with their SS off  for a few week's with illness. They seem to pull together as a good team
and still had everything organised.  WELCOME back our SS - B  who can now pick up where CR left off.
B gave me a call late Friday, the roof tiles come this week and will be installed, the house should be wrapped.
I noticed the local electricity distributer "SP Ausnet" has installed the Electricity meter. On other previous matters, they come to the a realistic variation amount for the 3 phase meter , the signed off paperwork sent back.
The Frame stage invoice is now signed off and sent to our bank for a payment - the new mortgage getting bigger now - that's life !!.

Frame Complete & Accepted

Another milestone today, the frame has been accepted. I spoke with D ( the building Inspector ) who tells me the frame is a good one. Still waiting for a return phone call from Ashford homes to say the frame was accepted even though the invoice for the stage payment was prematurely sent to us a few days ago... I've asked for a copy of the Inspectors report to finalise the 2nd stage payment...ouch !!

A few small issues to resolve, there is a small low spot in the slab near the Alfresco Bi fold doors and the Bi fold doors have incorrectly been installed with the wood still under the sill of the door, I'm glad D picked up the same issues to push onto Ashford Homes..

"A frame with a View "...Windows installed.

Well it's been a typical Melbourne winter week this week...Summer went by so quickly, Autumn seems like it lasted just one week.   Slow progress, the framer gave up for most of the week, too many showers for him to safely work on the remaining wall & roof frame of the garage area....he mostly did the tidy up jobs between showers.  We at least have most of the windows installed at last.

More progress - steady changes almost everyday.

It's been another week of good progress on the frame, with the Roof Trusses now delivered and mostly installed.
The second top plate is now installed around the outside of the house line and on the internal load bearing walls.
The roofline is slowly taking shape - on the main house area at least, the Alfresco and garage areas have no frames as yet. Small progress on the power with the switchboard now in place and ready for the temp supply for the builders use. Unlike may others in the estate, we have Eaves on the house - trying to keep the house energy efficient - got the rating back from the builder - 6 stars at the moment just on the design and orientation.

Frame well underway.

Our frame is well underway now, most of the internal walls are erected and the house is taking shape, it is great to be able to walk through each room and "feel" what it's going to be like - given this house was never on display anywhere for us to look through first. This weekend has been the first time to really get the feel of the house - we are both ecstatic over the plan now. All dimensions are pretty right - not sure on how they will finish off the cavity sliders in the Ensuite doorway as yet it's a bit unclear. Windows being installed monday and we are told the roof truss's are coming on Tuesday, it should look fantastic when this is finished.
